Ninja ballets and chocolate cupcakes; crystalline caves and icicle rain. Strawberry fields forever.

Get out your cell phone and scroll through the contacts until you come to a name that provokes a reaction inside of you. Joy, rage, confusion, fascination, embarrassment, fear, frustration, infatuation, anything.

Ask yourself why that person’s name caused that reaction in you. Don’t try to make it an accurate answer, make it your honest, personal answer. Make it a thousand overlapping micro-answers. Don’t find categorical terminology for any of it, just dump the marbles of emotional memory all over the floor, flood the room with them. You were infatuated with Rebecca because she wore Chuck Taylors and played bass and tasted like cigarettes.

Are there any other writers of his jawn that answer questions like this on Tumblr, or anywhere?

Despite having my ass kicked by this sinus infection, I’m still thinking one step ahead for my GD III corporate redesign project.

To be honest, one of the major reasons why I chose the campaign for safe cosmetics was the potential for cosmetics package design. I don’t know if it’s the Japanese in me, but goddamn I love some good packages! Package design, that is X ) First impressions are everything, right? A package IS the first impression, a chance to plant a seed in the consumer’s head, even before the product is introduced. In conjunction with a logo and other print materials, the design of the packaging can help to define the “attitude” of the brand.

More than that, though, I think it’s about rediscovering that euphoric, giddy sense of excitement one gets when purchasing something that they had to save up or wait for. Why do we wrap our Christmas presents? Today’s culture, in which the immediate acquisition and subsequent discarding of hoards of objects has become commonplace, I think we’ve lost some of the simple appreciation that comes with having less.

To get back to the point, I’m looking at a lot of images of package design, most of it being eco-friendly, for potential project ideas. I’m imagining a range of packaging which would house cosmetics approved by the campaign as being safe and toxin-free. I feel like going this route is just so much more relevant than designing a poster or flyer.

With that being said, I am goinggggggg to bed. Hopefully I feel better tomorrow : ( bye y’all!
